Projects
This is a sample of interactive media projects -educational, commercial and experimental- developed in Flash.
Flash Simulator
The Flash simulator is a game that features an embedded simulation of the Flash 8 environment. The objective of the game is to clear the shapes in a 4 by 4 board. Each line has 3 identical shapes and a different one. By using the Flash simulator, the player creates an animation that transforms the later so that all shapes in the line are the same. If the steps are performed correctly, the line is eliminated. There are 5 levels, each incorporating different animation concepts but working with the same underlying pattern. From the instructional point of view, it is this animation pattern, which is fundamental in timeline-based Flash movies, that participants will hopefully understand once they play the game.
Clifford Jean-Felix
This Flash site was developed for artist Clifford Jean-Felix. The site was designed by Lucas Lemmonier and I coded all the functionality in ActionScript 3. All pages are modular and XML-driven, so new sections can be quickly created. Content is also XML-driven so the site can be easily updated. Launch Site
Daphne City
This is a project currently under development that combines narrative with interactive media. Enríque Rodríguez Araújo, a Colombian author who wrote Heroes, is the creator of the story behind Daphne City, a 3D environment created with ActionScript 3 and Papervision3D that locates the narrative in the areas of the city where it takes place. The story not only allows the user to live it in the 3D environment but encourages the exploration of the web where the characters are participants in popular internet sites. Transmedia fragments shape the story in a unique way giving the user a more multidimensional perspective. The original story is in Spanish but once in place it will be translated into English as well. Launch Site
Competency-Based Systems Game
The objective of the game is to better understand the differences between traditional methods of personnel selection and competency-based systems. Participants have to select a spy from three available candidates. Once they have followed the usual procedured used in their respective companies, they apply the tools previously learned in the seminar. A simple computer simulation allows them to visualize the differences between the two processes, and the importance assigned to different skills using the two approaches.
